CONTESTING
To
win or not to win
Why
should I?
I should not! As to me concerned I just
love contesting. It is a good occasion to meet a great
number of stations from great number of DXCC entites
or new-to-log, new-to-band call signs. Especially with
the small pistol station that I have ever had.

Remarks
I have never had any linear amplifier so the
early years HP (high power) category in the
official list may come from lack of true data in
the archive. Though, I can imagine other reasons
as to the old fashion, centralized posting
system of the contest logs concerned at that
time... I ran a homebrew trx only for 20 m
(single band) with 2xPL504 tubes in the PA. The
input was 100W and the antenna was a folded
dipole made of TV (twin) cable, situated about 1 m high above
flat roof in the '80s. The QTH was surrounded by
hills and mountains of Dorog Basin. Thanks to
Randy, K5ZD for collecting data and publishing
the history of this highly esteemed contests.
You can check your history here.
By the way, I had to
mail the logs to the "local center" (not to the
organizer directly) in the early '80s and never
heard about results until Randy published it recently.
It is really great to read them after decades.
